This is a one hour presentation given at the Christians and Psychological Studies Conference in 2021.
ABSTRACT: Schema Therapy has a growing evidence base as an effective treatment for those with complex trauma resulting in interpersonal and intrapersonal difficulties. This seminar will provide a brief overview of Schema Therapy illustrated with a case study highlighting how Christian clients can benefit from this treatment approach. Participants will
- apply an understanding of how key schemas develop as a result of trauma
- be able to list the four key change processes in Schema Therapy.
- observe a demonstration of Imagery used to process complex trauma and create shifts in connection to God and safety in church settings.
